Salon Kolokea is my vision come to life—where beauty, passion, and good vibes are at the heart of everything I do. The name Kolokea translates to “Dorothy” in Hawaiian, and it truly symbolizes the soul of this salon.
At Salon Kolokea, it’s all about creating a vibe that makes you feel your best, with every service designed to uplift and inspire. Here, I focus on not just your look, but on how you feel when you walk out the door—empowered, confident, and radiant.
Hair Adventure
Hey friends, Dorothy here :) I’ve been living and breathing hair for over 15 years—and honestly, I still love every second of it. My career is something I’m incredibly proud of, and nothing makes me happier than seeing my clients leave feeling more confident and beautiful than when they walked in.
From blonding, coloring, haircutting to mastering hair extensions, I’ve spent over a decade perfecting my craft behind the chair. For the past 5 years, I’ve owned my own salon, and in 2025, I’m leveling up and growing into my own independent space, Salon Kolokea, a brand of Dorothy. I love creating a space where my guests can relax, feel welcomed, and enjoy a fun, positive vibe.
I am Head of Education for DreamCatchers Hair Extensions and NSG Men’s & Women’s Non-Surgical Hair Replacement, where I develop and provide advanced education to barbers and stylists, helping them elevate their skills with luxurious hair additions. Alongside that, I’m a Regional Wella Brand Educator and Wella Color Master Expert. I continue to have the privilege of teaching, inspiring, and helping professionals level up their craft through education.
From starting as a teaching assistant in beauty school, to growing into the regional cosmetology manager and excelling to become the school director, building curriculums and product development has been thrilling and rewarding. Whether I’m styling and enhancing my clients while behind the chair, to sharing knowledge, or developing programs, products, or tools, every day in this industry feels like an exciting adventure.
Hair is more than a job for me—it’s a passion that makes every day a little more fun!
Personal Adventure
My family and friends are my core. My amazing son is hands down the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me—he’s silly, strong, loving, and full of laughter. I strive to show him what it means to live a life full of happiness, passion for your work, and creating your own version of success.
Alongside my husband of 16 years, we've navigated the roller coaster of health, wealth and growing pins, and beautiful adventures—building a life together that I’m incredibly grateful for.
I’m so thankful for the little family we've created and the beautiful life we live. My friends keep me grounded with tons of laughs, adventures, and unforgettable memories. I’m lucky to have a close-knit group of core friends, but I also love meeting new people and making friends wherever I go!
When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll most likely find me staying active—whether I’m in the gym, doing yoga, on a trip, at a concert, or soaking up the sun on a beach. I love trying new things, traveling new places, and live music is one of my biggest passions—you can always find me at a concert or music festival, or even live events in general. Staying active is key for me, and I enjoy keeping fit through sports like yoga, golf, tennis, soccer, surfing, and snowboarding.
Fun fact: I have a twin brother!
